One Of Us Lyrics
Gregorian
Lyrics
If God had a name what would it be?
And would you call it to his face?
If you were faced with him
In all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question?
And yeah, yeah, God ist great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
If God had a face what would it look like?
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that
you would have to believe
in things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints
and all the prophets
Trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
'cept for the Pope maybe in Rome
Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody caling on the phone
'cept for the Pope maybe in Rome
Song & Lyrics Facts
Gregorian is a German band that was formed in 1998 by Frank Peterson. The song "One of Us" is taken from their album Masters of Chant Chapter III, released in 2001.
It belongs to the genre of Gregorian chant and new-age music. The lyrics were written by Eric Bazilian, who also wrote them for Joan Osborne's 1995 hit single with the same title. The main members of the band include vocalists Jan-Eric Kohrs, Carmen Montero, Robert Hunecke-Rizzo, and Marcus Loebermann; keyboardist/producer Frank Peterson; guitar player Rolf Köhler; bass player Christian von Richthofen; and drummer Carsten Heusmann. The hauntingly beautiful melody of this track combined with its meaningful lyrics make it one of the most popular songs from the album. The lyrics speak about being part of something larger than oneself.
