Weezer's "Buddy Holly" is a song from their 1994 self-titled debut album, also known as the Blue Album. It was written by Rivers Cuomo and released on May 10th of that year.
The track features lead vocals from frontman Rivers Cuomo and backing vocals from bassist Matt Sharp. The single peaked at number two in the US Billboard Hot 100 and won Weezer an MTV Video Music Award for Best Alternative Music Video. The lyrics describe a love story between the protagonist and a waitress named Mary, who works at a diner called “Casa Del Mar”. The video features the band playing inside a recreated set of the show Happy Days, with actress/singer Joey Lauren Adams portraying Mary. The video was directed by Spike Jonze, and its success helped launch his career.
