Undertow is a live song by the Canadian rock band Tool, released in 1993 on their debut album of the same name. The album was produced by Sylvia Massy and recorded at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California.
It features lead vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Paul D'Amour and drummer Danny Carey. Undertow combines elements of alternative metal, progressive metal, funk metal and psychedelic rock with its heavy riffs, groove-laden rhythms and powerful vocals. Its lyrics were written by Keenan, who has stated that it is about "the realization that we are all connected". The song has been praised for its complex structure, dynamic changes and memorable chorus.
