The Bodysnatchers
Lyrics
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
Do Rocksteady, do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha, When you're feeling blue, all you got to' do,
Ah ha, ah ha,
When you're feeling blue, all you got to' do,
Ah ha, ah ha,
Do Rocksteady, do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
(solo)
When you're feeling blue, all you got to' do,
Ah ha, ah ha,
When you're feeling blue, all you got to' do,
Ah ha, ah ha,
Do Rocksteady, do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
Do Rocksteady, do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
People get ready, you got to' do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha,
Do Rocksteady, do Rocksteady,
Ah ha, ah ha
Song & Lyrics Facts
The Bodysnatchers' song "Let's Do Rock Steady" was released in 1979 on their album, Too Experienced: The Best of the Bodysnatchers. It was written by Jackie Mittoo and Winston Riley, two reggae legends from Jamaica, who also produced the track.
The band consisted of Rhoda Dakar (vocals), Jane Wiedlin (guitar), Miranda Joyce (bass) and Kate Korus (drums). This upbeat track is a cover of Alton Ellis' original 1967 version and features catchy lyrics such as “Come on let’s do rock steady, it’s gonna be alright/ You never know what you might find when you do rock steady tonight”.
