Moonspell is a Portuguese metal band formed in 1992. The song "Luna" was released on their album Irreligious, which was released in 1996.
It was written by the band's vocalist Fernando Ribeiro and guitarist Ricardo Amorim. Other members of the band include bassist Ares, keyboard player Pedro Paixão and drummer Mike Gaspar. This gothic metal track features dark lyrics that explore themes of death, love and sacrifice. Its haunting melody has made it one of Moonspell's signature songs. Fans often cite its powerful chorus as an anthem for the band. According to the group, “Luna” was inspired by a dream Ribeiro had about his deceased grandmother.
