Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1989. The group consists of vocalist Hope Sandoval and guitarist David Roback, both formerly of the dream pop band Opal.
Their most successful song to date is "Fade Into You", which was released as a single from their second album So Tonight That I Might See (1993). It reached number 44 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a modern rock radio hit. The band's fourth studio album, Seasons of Your Day, was released on September 24, 2013. Produced by Roback, it marks Mazzy Star's first full-length release since 1996's Among My Swan. The record features lyrics written by Sandoval and music composed by Roback. Band members include Hope Sandoval (vocals), David Roback (guitar), Suki Ewers (keyboards) and Keith Mitchell (drums). Lyrics are often melancholic and reflective, focusing on themes such as longing, loss and love.
