Labi Siffre is a British singer-songwriter and poet, who released his song ‘I Got The’ in 1975. It was taken from his third album Crying Laughing Loving Lying, which was written, composed and produced by Labi himself.
He was joined on the recording by an all-star band including drummer Clem Cattini, bassist Herbie Flowers, keyboard player Alan Hawkshaw and guitarist Chris Spedding. The lyrics of 'I Got The' reflect Labi's socially conscious outlook, with its themes of freedom, justice and personal responsibility. The track has since become one of Labi's most well known songs, receiving extensive radio airplay over the years.
