Fairground Attraction was a British folk-pop band formed in 1987. The group is best known for their single "Perfect", which topped the UK Singles Chart in 1988 and won the Brit Award for Best British Single that same year.
The song was released on April 11, 1988 as part of the band's debut album, The First of a Million Kisses. Written by Mark Nevin and Eddi Reader, "Perfect" has since become an enduring classic. The lyrics tell the story of unrequited love and feature Reader's distinctive vocal style. Fairground Attraction disbanded shortly after the release of their second album, Ay Fond Kiss, in 1989.
