Talk You Down Lyrics
The Script

Lyrics
Dublin City, how you guys doing tonight?
We are The Script
This is our homecoming show here tonight
And we're gonna take the roof off this place if it had one
Let me see ya, c'mon, c'mon
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Ooh, ooh
I can feel the colour running
As it's fading from my face
Try to speak but nothing's coming
Nothing I could say to make you stay
Grab your suitcase, call a taxi
It's 3 a.m., now where you gonna go?
Gonna stay with friends in Dublin, yeah
And that's all I get to know, oh
Just a cigarette gone
No, you couldn't be that far
I'm driving my car to where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can talk you down
Oh, we're standing on this tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is relationship suicide
If you go, I go, c'mon
'Cause if you go, I go
Taking shortcuts through the alleys, yeah
While you're racing through my mind, yeah
Cops can chase, but they won't catch me, no
Not before I get to speak my mind
If there's still time
Oh, just a cigarette gone
No, you couldn't be that far
I'm driving my car to where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can talk you down
Oh, we're standing on this tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is relationship suicide
We're standing on this tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
Oh, we're standing on this tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
C'mon, Dublin, let me hear ya
Just a cigarette gone
No, you couldn't be that far
I'm driving my car to where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can talk you down
Oh, we're standing on this tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is relationship suicide
'Cause if you go, I go
'Cause if you go, I go
And if you go, I go
And if you go, I go, c'mon
And if you go, I go
And if you go, I go
And if you go, I go
And if you go, I go, I go
Song & Lyrics Facts
Talk You Down is a song by Irish rock band The Script. It was released as the fourth single from their self-titled debut album The Script on March 16, 2009.
The song was written by the band members Mark Sheehan and Danny O'Donoghue. Guitarist Mark Sheehan's songwriting for this album was inspired by the trauma of his mother's illness and death. He told The Sun newspaper August 1, 2008 that he "used to always say if she goes I'm gone." This sentence found its way into this song. The song is about a man who is trying to convince his girlfriend not to leave him. He tells her that he will be there for her no matter what happens and that he will always be by her side. The main message of the song is that love can conquer all and that no matter what happens in life, there is always someone who will be there for you.
