Drunken Sailor Lyrics
Blaggards
Lyrics
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning!
Put him in the hold with the Captain's daughter
Put him in the hold with the Captain's daughter
Put him in the hold with the Captain's daughter
Earl-eye in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning!
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Shave his belly with a rusty razor
Earl-eye in the morning!
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
What do you do with a drunken sailor
Earl-eye in the morning!
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Way hay and up she rises
Earl-eye in the morning
Song & Lyrics Facts
Blaggards is an Irish punk band from Houston, Texas that formed in 1997. They are best known for their song “Drunken Sailor” which was released on their album "Modern Day Paddywhackery" in 2008.
The lyrics were written by the lead singer and guitarist, Patrick Devlin, and the music was composed by the whole band. It has become a popular drinking anthem at pubs and festivals around the world. The song follows the traditional sailor's tune with its own unique twist of modern-day Celtic rock. Its catchy chorus includes the line “What shall we do with a drunken sailor? What shall we do with a drunken sailor? Early in the morning!” making it one of the most recognizable sea shanties of all time.
